Basement Finishing
Olivia & James Carter
The Carters reached out to transform their dark, unfinished basement into a bright, multi-purpose living space. What was once a concrete, storage-heavy area is now a warm and functional lower level that serves as a family media room, guest suite, and remote workspace — all within a single unified design.
We started by reconfiguring the floor plan for optimal flow, adding soundproof insulation, and installing luxury vinyl plank flooring for warmth and durability. Natural white paint brightened the walls, and recessed ceiling lights brought consistent, ambient lighting throughout.
The living area was centered around a media wall with built-in cabinetry, while the guest sleeping nook included privacy curtains and soft layered lighting. A custom desk area was tucked beneath the staircase, blending seamlessly with the design. Subtle orange elements — such as a terracotta throw, an amber reading lamp, and a framed print with warm hues — added depth and brand consistency.
The basement is now a vibrant extension of the Carter family’s home. It offers versatility, comfort, and style — perfect for hosting guests or spending quality time together. The project was delivered on schedule, and the Carters were thrilled with the transformation, especially how natural light and thoughtful materials redefined a previously unused space.
